In some cases a simple direct cremation is all that is needed.
The traditional pathways that we have relied on in the past no longer suit everyone.
We can work with you regarding this approach.
When burial with a full funeral service is the preferred option, the venue can be in our Chapel, or at another suitable location. If catering is required, we can assist, or the family may choose to organise that themselves.
The final price is dependent upon which casket you choose, newspaper notices and any other options chosen.
Note: This price is based on a second burial in an existing plot.
Rex and Nancy were on holiday in Dunedin when Nancy fell ill unexpectedly and was admitted to hospital. Sadly she died the next day and as Rex had said his goodbyes to her at the hospital, he chose to have a simple cremation here so he could travel home with her ashes.
Meredith devoted her life to caring for animals. She had no close family in Dunedin but her two little dogs were her constant companions.
When Meredith died, her niece, Sarah travelled from Auckland to make the arrangements for a simple farewell. Meredith had been a very private person with a small circle of close friends, so it was important that they had a chance to say goodbye.
There were ten people at her farewell viewing which took place in our family room. We provided light refreshments for them in the foyer. Sarah bought along Midge and Star to say goodbye as well before Meredith left on her final journey to the crematorium.

Gilbert was a regular at Chisholm Park Golf Club and after finishing his round, he would head off to the clubrooms for refreshments with his mates. He often commented how much he loved the sea view from up at the top of the green. When he died, the Andersons Bay Crematorium Chapel seemed the perfect venue. His family wanted a very simple service which they led themselves. After the curtain had closed they all travelled down the hill to the golf club and toasted Gilbert in style.

Bill had been a keen bowler for many years and had been an active member of his local bowls club. When he died, his family wished to have that reflected in his service. They chose our chapel for the service and his bowling mates provided a guard of honour as his casket was carried out to the hearse. The family and close friends followed the hearse over to the crematorium gate and then carried on to the club for an afternoon tea which was provided by the club members.

When Christine’s husband Ken passed away in 2012, he was buried in Green Park Cemetery. As the grave allows for two people to be buried there, there was room for Christine as well. Although Christine was no longer a member of a parish, she did want to have a minister officiate at the service.
Christine and Ken had a large extended family with five children, 12 grandchildren and six very young great-grandchildren, so they wanted a venue that was child-friendly. They liked Gillions family room which provides a quiet space for the parents to adjourn to, if needed, and still be able to watch the service while the toddlers checked out the toy box.
Following the service, the family travelled out to the cemetery and gathered around while Christine was laid to rest with Ken. They then joined Christine’s friends at Haley’s house for refreshments.
